So much ignorance, so little time.

1) Georgia doesn't have any teacher's unions to sneak this by. The GAE, the closest thing here to the NEA (and their local affiliate), has no where near the clout in its present form at the political level to even provide a speed bump.

2) How exactly does allowing local control, something that most Republicans claim to be in favor of, make the Gwinnett system "rudderless"?

3) "Larger class sizes are not necessarily bad- Catholics schools usually have larger class sizes- and significantly higher test scores." So your problem here is what, again, exactly?

4) "One is the absence of a teachers union. There is no tenure, and no structure for propping up poor teachers." Ga did away with Tenure a long time ago. And again, despite your constant references to them, we don't have teachers unions here.

5) "Curriculum is another reason. Public schools tend to teach to the lowest common denominator. Typically, a public school class will move only as fast as the slowest students can." And allowing Gwinnett County the flexibility to create local solutions is bad how?

I quit reading here. This is the typical uninformed rant that those who have no idea how a public school operates throws up anytime the issue of education is addressed.

Public schools have many, many problems. I in no way believe that "more money" is the solution. That said, those who actually want to discuss solutions from a Republican perspective might want to learn a little about the actual facts of the situtuation instead of producing a screed of things they just "believe" to be true.

SO, Indy - you would give the Banking Queen, Barney Frank (etal) a total pass on this issue? The banks were leveraged 30-1 on this debt he pushed for & received thru Mac & Mae. Now, congress will lay the "solution" for this problem and other economic solutions back into his hands??

I think Barney should get more than the 60% blame.

As usual, Chris is right. Personally, I'm a HUGE 2nd amendment person. While pandering to get a vote, Oxendine forgot to ask the NRA their position on the bill.

While Casey leads during an economic crisis and focuses on the economy and jobs, the Ox is still in the pasture chewing his cud.

"If the taxes were levied at one level and spent at that same level, it would make a lot more political types have to be accountable for their actions (or inaction)."

There is no greater abrogation of this principle than Medicaid, which was costing the states $850 billion 2 years ago.

Plus 2 points for Dash.

Gas taxes are the closest thing we have right now to user fees. The cost of building roads, and the number of new roads needed, have gone up quite a bit over the last couple of decades, but the gas taxes have not.

I support an increase. I would like a condition added, however, that the part of the motor fuel tax currently being diverted to the general fund be returned to GDOT.

They will want the benefits of socialism that America's corporations have embraced.

This is the essence of why Obama grand employment program has become morally imperative.

The masses won't stand for privatized profits and socialized losses for the corps without commandeering the same.

The republic is therefore lost and anyone who has lived frugally has been a FOOL.

This will bring about CHANGE, all right, just not Obama's preference.

Casey Cagle stated he has “no appetite for it” and Georgians “should be content with where we are.”

Chris,
What about the second part of that statement... did CC say that. If he did, then add me to your "gun-nuts" list.

Boy-R-tard,
It has nothing to do with fear and everything to do with self-responsibility. I also own plumbing, carpentry and automotive tools as well. I'm sure you don't understand but it's called being prepared and self reliant.
Now lift your legs so the government can change and wipe you.

As for Ox, Sheppie asked me what my problem with Ox was a while back. While there are many contributing factors, they can mostly be summed up with my thoughts on the above press release.

Our party has had enough of "leaders" who choose their path to success as one who panders to the lowest common denominators. An effort to stir up gun lovers on the pretense that someone is trying to take away our rights is disingenuous, intellectually void, and lacks any solution to real, actual issues.

I want our future leaders to be able to solve real problems. In order to do so, they must be able to first recognize real problems, and then speak to the public about them, rather than pandering to "the base".

A man that wants to use military force to shorten gas lines, or decides to tell his constituents that their rights are in danger if we don't rearrange more gun carry deck chairs, lacks the judgment I expect from our next governor.

My state rep. couldn't come to any eggs & issues breakfast & tell me that the poblem is the Gov. or the opposit party. Then my local BOE or BOC member couldn't blame it on the State in the very same meeting!
