Congrats to Burrell Ellis in Dekalb County who withstood Stan Watson’s strong challenge.
In Gwinnett, Charles Bannister is winning, though his opponent won’t concede yet.

Stan Watson’s Race Baiting Has a Twist

August 1st, 2008 · 18 Comments

Watson sent out the race baiting flier to the black community that I wrote about below. While that flier was going out in the black community, this one was going out in the white community:

Here is the reverse of the flier.
So, one message to the black community that is anti-white and a different message [...]

Another Georgia Blogger To Run For Public Office

July 31st, 2008 · 3 Comments

Let’s take a small timeout from all our many blogger “disclosure” issues of late and look at an interesting, (presumably) positive side of political blogging. In what seems to be a trend in Georgia, yet another blogger has thrown a hat into the public service arena. John Heneghan of Heneghan’s Dunwoody Blog has decided to [...]

Grand jury tells incompetent Clayton County DA Jewel Scott to go pound sand

July 24th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Outstanding.
A grand jury cleared three Clayton County police officers in a fatal, prostitution-sting shooting. The grand jury heard testimony and reviewed evidence — including a patrol car’s dashboard video of the March 2007 death — for about four hours, before returning a no-bill, rejecting all possible charges, from murder to reckless conduct.
Finally, some people [...]

I Want A Job Running Any Authority In DeKalb, Fulton, Or Atlanta

July 23rd, 2008 · 6 Comments

Any Job.  Really, it doesn’t matter which one.  Marta, Grady, heck, put me in charge of sanitation.  I don’t care.  Don’t worry about my qualifications, because the person I’m replacing apparently didn’t have any either.  Just make sure I get the severence package that Pam Stephenson got from Grady, or Richard J. McCrillis got from [...]

Are Roy Barnes And DeKalb County Circumventing Open Records Laws?

July 23rd, 2008 · 6 Comments

The AJC has this story today about Roy Barnes filing another lawsuit to stop the City of Dunwoody.   DeKalb Commissioners have voted 5-2 to stop the additional lawsuit for a few weeks.  One of the sticking points is that, although Barnes was hired in April 2007, he has yet to bill Dekalb county for his legal [...]

Incompetent Clayton County DA Jewel Scott can’t even get her office’s conviction rate correct

July 22nd, 2008 · No Comments

One week into a runoff campaign, the two candidates for Clayton County District Attorney are hitting hard, galvanized in aggressive opposition. Incumbent District Attorney Jewel Scott sent out a mailer calling her opponent, Juvenile Court Judge Tracy Graham Lawson, a “hanging judge.” Lawson accused Scott, who is black, of “race baiting” and “lies.”
Here’s the [...]

Denial Denial Denial

July 21st, 2008 · No Comments

Jim Wooten is mocking, over and over and over and yet again, Obama’s chances in Georgia. (And we wonder why everyone’s fave read is My Morning Wooten. But I diverge…)
Lots of people at Peach Pundit thrive on denial. What’s new. Only thing is, hard as this is for some to come to terms with, some [...]

Not all is sweet in Sandy Springs

July 20th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Looks like they have a few problems with their police department.
An investigation into wrongdoing in the Sandy Springs Police Department turned up numerous violations of policies and has resulted in the police chief’s resignation and the departure of three other supervisors. Sandy Springs released the investigative report Friday, which details officers working off-duty [...]

More Bad News for Clayton County Sheriff

July 18th, 2008 · 2 Comments

First, Clayton County Sheriff Victor “Walking Small” Hill learns on Tuesday that he’s facing a runoff. Now, at least one former employee who is suing him in Federal court is alleging that Sheriff Hill (who never met a subordinate he didn’t want to salute him), is bullying witnesses.
A former chief deputy has expanded his [...]

Keeping My Fingers Crossed For A Good Guy

July 15th, 2008 · 2 Comments

As the last few votes are cast today, I’d like to give some praise to someone who, frankly, did a dumb thing as far as his political career is concerned.
Griffin Judicial Circuit (Fayette, Pike, Spalding, and Upson counties) District Attorney Scott Ballard, shortly after assuming his duties in his first term, kept his commitment to [...]

Old Media, New Media, and The Vote Today

July 15th, 2008 · 22 Comments

I awoke to a message in my Inbox urging me to go to the polls (in Georgia) today. The email contained a handy link, which I clicked-on, to Georgia’s Secretary of State’s Poll Locater tool, just in case I needed not only a reminder, but also directions on where exactly to go vote today.
Funny [...]

ALJ rules against Gross

July 11th, 2008 · 7 Comments

Kind of surprised no one has jumped on this yet.
Keith Gross is likely to be removed from the ballot after an Administrative Law Judge found that he did not meet the residency requirements. In this case, Gross had not lived in the state for two years, as required by Georgia law. You can read [...]

More “Implied” Endorsements from Obama for Another Candidate from DeKalb County?

July 11th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Only days after the dispute concerning DeKalb CEO Vernon Jones’ “implied” endorsement from U.S. Senator Barack Obama (in a advertisement where photos of Jones and Obama were featured under a “Yes, We Can!” headline) comes this ad from DeKalb County Commission District 4 candidate Sharon Barnes-Sutton which ran in the July 10, 2008 edition of [...]
