GOP Governors have come to the ATL.
The current superstar of Republican veep possibilities, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, didn’t come to the RGA’s gathering in Atlanta Wednesday, hosted by Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue, the current RGA chair. But the more likely choice, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, gave the luncheon speech, and also attending were – in [...]

Dominoes - Not Just a Game for Kids…
June 5th, 2008 · 16 Comments
The key with dominoes is that when you upset one domino, a series of subsequent events causes all the dominoes to fall thereafter.
With the imminent decisions by so many of Georgia’s Statewide Constitutional Officers to seek the Governor’s office, the domino effect is that it opens up a host of opportunities in our state.
John [...]

Is it Sonny’s Fault?
June 4th, 2008 · 17 Comments
Bill Shipp is on the war path today. He’s blaming Sonny for the education mess.
To make teachers feel better about themselves, Perdue abolished the “Office of Education Accountability,” and ironically, turned the agency into the “Governor’s Office of Student Achievement.”
Just to cap off his new Education-by-Hula-Hoop Plan, Perdue announced he was hiring graduation coaches [...]

Perdue Says No To Gas Tax Moratorium For Georgia
May 14th, 2008 · 15 Comments
Farmers and timber companies got a break from record-high fuel prices on Monday as Gov. Sonny Perdue suspended the state sales tax on diesel for off-road uses, according to Forbes.com. But Georgians driving the state’s roads shouldn’t be expecting any such relief. Instead, the state’s gasoline tax will rise on July 1.

Holy cow. Another reason we need the gun law: so we can shoot crazy people on MARTA

This is NSFW (google the initials if you don’t know what it means).
A big tip of the hat to our friends at Creative Loafing who, unlike me, have enough class to not actually put up the video.
Let’s hope the person at La Quinta Inn was right.
BTW, the crazy girl would be more likely to carry [...]

The online driving school bill is a bad idea.
Scooby Doo can get behind the wheel again in Florida.
Not in real life, of course. The talking dog doesn’t exist. But opponents of a bill to let Georgia’s habitual traffic violators take court-ordered driving classes online signed the cartoon canine up for an Internet course in Florida, [...]

Why hasn’t the Governor signed H.B. 881?
May 6th, 2008 · 25 Comments
H.B. 881 is the charter schools legislation. Given the mess in Clayton County and the kids who are stuck down there, I am really surprised the Governor hasn’t signed this legislation — it’s just common sense reforms to prevent local school boards like Clayton County from shutting down charter schools without cause and the [...]
