Morning Reads for Friday, February 13, 2015

Dun, dun, dun. It’s Friday, the 13th! As if tomorrow wasn’t bad enough! Tomorrow is that day. To make a landmine-filled day even more exciting, here’s a guide for the politically sensitive.

Here:
ATL Water Authority still a mess.
– 44 photos on #44.
– The year of the health care hack.
Braves considering moving their Spring Training, as well.
– Another WaHo downtown? And the angels sang…

There:
– The FEC can’t tell us what to do!
Playing chicken with energy independence.
– Former MARTA head quits Boston MTBA job in what some would call a full-blown hissy fit. Everybody knows Southerners don’t like snow.
Karma. Or something.
Feeding frenzy at NBC.

Random Everywhere:
– There’s still time to sign up to run around in your undies. Wait, what?
– Hubble finds a smiley face in space.
– There really is an Argument Room. And look, it’s on the internetz!

A month-old quote taken from a Fox article the day Ralph & Co. (Faith & Freedom Coalition) orchestrated the protest under the dome. They now realize that Kelvin Cochran isn’t going to be a poster child for the RFRA bill as he was fired with cause but not for the cause they wanted him fired for.

This website is run by another doozy of a nut. Where do you keep coming up with them Harry? This guy has been doing the TEA Party Patriots scam since 1981 though with a few differences. His phone solicitors are in house rather than outsourced. In fact he survived a special grand jury probe in 2012 only because his solicitations that violated Virginia law were beyond their statute of limitations. He was still censured and ostracized by the 100% Republican Board of Supervisors of Loudon County though he still has his seat.

His primary income is from running his own Public Advocate non-profit 501(c)4 organization and making sure his name stays out there no matter how outrageous the protest. His group’s primary focus being anti-tax, anti-immigration, and of course anti-gay. A couple of my favorite quotes as their leader include his citation of TSA hiring practices that don’t discriminate and are therefore part of the “Homosexual Agenda”. “That means the next TSA official that gives you an ‘enhanced pat down’ could be a practicing homosexual secretly getting pleasure from your submission.” The other was regarding The Gasparilla Pirate Festival in Tampa whose organized events “are designed to prey upon unsuspecting college students…When the young men are sufficiently intoxicated, homosexuals dressed as pirates whisk them away to God knows where to take advantage of them sexually.”
