Morning Reads–Thanks Edition

I’m thankful for classic trolling; such as putting Clean Old-Fashioned Hate on the SEC Network. (The SEC Network is not available on Tech’s campus). And I’m also thankful you people get to read me.

“Christmas Wrapping” from The Waitresses. Thankfully we can play Christmas music now.

  1. GSU says thanks for that $22.8-million gift.
  2. Delta’s on board with Obama’s immigration policies.
  3. Atlanta Fed researcher: 95% of those employed are employed full time. That conflicts with the conventional wisdom, but we all know the Atlanta Fed is the Best Fed.
  4. AG Sam Olens talks water war.
  5. New Invest Atlanta chief.
  6. If you missed that your fire chief published a book (an inflammatory one, too) then you need to review your vetting policies.
  7. The Economist: Atlanta, the South, want better public transportation. They are not incorrect.
  8. Smaller is better for Coke?

it’s not officially the holiday season for me until i here christmas wrapping, so thank you for that!!!

my radio has been on holly all week but i had not heard yet….

Economist: “families are stuck, unable to get good jobs, partly because of the lack of public transport. The new streetcar should help by connecting residents to the city’s main MARTA transport system. For some, it could also save a fortune in petrol: the average driver wastes $1,000-worth of fuel a year sitting in Atlanta’s traffic.”

Mass transit is to move the poor to good jobs ? Explains the empty buses.
The new streetcar will help ? Initial survey sez they need a cow/car catcher bumper.
The fuel costs are from sprawl and sprawl requires better roads, particularly to the nearest station.

      • Ellynn says:

The current deficit is about $481 Billion.

The last time the deficit was $1.4 trillion was the fall of 2009. The rate of debt has also slowed but is still at an all time high of $17 Trillion.

Facts. You should try them sometime.

        • Harry says:

You haven’t factored in the post-midterm effect of Obamacare/Medicaid, amnesty costs, as well as tax losses being incurred by US oil and commodities and stagnant/falling consumer demand on US multinationals. Don’t believe Obama Goldilocks hype – the CBO etc. assumptions are too optimistic. The CBO is about to get a massive reorganization. The current FY deficit will be more like $1.4 Trillion. Facts are facts. Shocking, I know.

    • gcp says:

Streetcar is a huge waste. Final cost could be anywhere between 50 and 100 million.

Why not just put a Marta bus at one end of the 1.3 mile route and another bus at the other end and let them run the route. Would have cost very little.

  3. saltycracker says:

Surveys: we didn’t just spend $4 billion on campaigns to get surveys that don’t deliver what we expect.

  4. MattMD says:

I’m not disagreeing that ESPN was trolling by putting such a big rivalry game on the SEC Network but it will be available on the Tech campus on channel 6.2.
