COOK REPORT MOVES GA-12 RACE TO ‘TOSS-UP’

(Atlanta, Georgia) – The Cook Political Report, an independent, non-partisan newsletter based out of Washington D.C.,has updated its ratings of House seats throughout the country and the race in Georgia’s 12th Congressional District, which pits incumbent Democrat Congressman John Barrow against conservative Rick Allen, is now a “toss-up.”

“The political insiders at The Cook Report are finally seeing what voters in Georgia’s 12th Congressional District already know,” said Georgia Republican Party Chairman John Padgett. “Congressman John Barrow is a two-faced, self-serving liberal who cares more about protecting his seat in Congress than representing the people in his district.

“Thankfully, voters in the 12th have a choice,” said Padgett. “Unlike Barrow, Rick Allen can be trusted. A successful businessman with a track record of service to the community, Rick will work tirelessly in Congress to repeal Obamacare, reduce the size of government, and end reckless spending and debt. In Congress, Rick Allen will fight to protect the American Dream for generations to come.

“The GAGOP Victory offices in Georgia’s 12th Congressional District are humming and I am optimistic in our ability to end Barrow’s tenure in Congress and give Georgians in the 12th the representation in Washington that they deserve.”

My advice to the Georgia GOP is to keep John Padgett off of TV between now and the election, so swing voters don’t see what a total caricature he is of every unflattering Republican stereotype.

The GOP will win this district…..when Barrow retires. As long as Barrow is an incumbent, this is a white whale for the GOP. When he retires it goes GOP by 5-10 points.
