UGA’s Chris Conley Named to Good Works Team

In an environment where athletes are often pointed out for their negative actions, it is always great to hear positive news of an athlete receiving a commendation for their community service.  Even when that news is about an athlete who plays for a team that you usually find yourself cheering against.

Christian “Chris” Conley, a Senior WR at UGA from Dallas, GA, was named today by Allstate and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) to their 2014 Good Works Team.  The award honors student-athletes that have contributed to their communities by investing themselves in the lives of others, despite having the difficult challenges of being a student and playing collegiate football.

The student-athletes were reviewed and chosen to the team by a panel consisting of former Good Works Team members and college football media.  Conley was chosen from a total of 182 nominations and was 1 of only 11 FBS players named to the 22-member team.  The other 11 members came from the FCS, Divisions II and III, and the NAIA.

Eric Mapoles, a native of Snellville, was also named to the team.  He is a Junior LB at Wingate University in Wingate, NC.
