Augusta Young Republicans to Re-Charter

One of the most repeated knocks against Republicans has been their struggle to reach younger voters. In the 2012 Presidential election, Obama won the under 30 vote by approximately 5 million votes, despite a high unemployment rate for that age range.

A report issued by the College Republican National Committee (CRNC) in August, 2012, laid out some of the issues identified as challenges in reaching these voters. It also provided some ideas of how to possibly narrow the gap for Republicans. The report was definitely a wake-up call for many Republicans, as it showed that the status quo was no longer going to work.

The GA College Republicans, currently under the leadership of Chairman Will Kremer, have worked hard across the state to both create new chapters and to strengthen existing ones.  They have not been in the boat alone, though, as the GA Young Republicans, currently lead by Madam Chair Meagan Hanson, have also been working to reach out to younger voters.

As indicated in the map above, there are currently 14 YR chapters in Georgia. If you are astute at your geography of Georgia’s Congressional districts, you can see that there are not any active chapters in the 12th District. There have been efforts made to change that fact and the result is the upcoming re-charter of the Augusta YR Chapter.

Madam Chair Hanson shared the following about the re-charter with Peach Pundit:

We’re excited to see a renewed YR presence in Georgia’s 12th District. Sam Heffner, who is heading up the Augusta Young Republicans, will be a fantastic leader and has demonstrated the vision needed to build an organization that will contribute to the success of the Republican Party in Augusta, the 12th District, and all of Georgia.

Together, our hard working YR chapters across Georgia form a fantastic part of the Republican Party critical to our victory efforts in November.

The GA Young Republicans will host a meet and greet launch event this weekend in Augusta.  Georgia Republicans between the ages of 18-40 are welcome to attend to find out more about the new Chapter and to meet fellow conservatives. The details are listed below:
