Morning Reads Without A Clever Title

I spent two days in nerd ground zero (Dragon Con) over the weekend. As was pointed out, it is a judgement-free zone where everyone is accepted and everyone is nice to you. Which got me wondering: maybe in a not-insignificant way, the nerds are superior to us.

  1. xdog says:

Braves were shutout again, although I guess getting 3 hits is better than none. The chances of them catching the Natspos look remote and they’re 1.5 games away from the last playoff spot with 23 left to play. Even if they make the playoffs they don’t look capable of making a decent run.

If they miss the playoffs, or if they get in and go out meekly, do Fredi and Frank lose their jobs? Should they?

    • Ed says:

Why should Fredi or Frank lose their jobs?

For one, managers have by far the least impact on teams of the major sports. Second, who out there is better? Third, why is it either of their fault that players aren’t playing as good as they could?

      • xdog says:

I’m not in favor of new people for the reasons you listed but I’ve heard talk. The offense has been poor all year and is getting worse. Someone besides Uggla and BJ will have to take the fall.

Another thought is that Liberty will expect much better than a middling team when they move to Cobb. They’ve already boosted budget and re-done media contracts and the new park should be a gold mine. It’s a good time to own the Braves. They’ll make new team hires if they feel the need.

  2. Jon Lester says:

People feel what they feel about Bill Clinton. Bringing Usher on board risks losing some of the independent voters, because they tend to have better taste in music.

  3. drjay says:

well we have now answered the question whether or not morning reads without a clever title can still be great!!!

    you bet they can…
