One Thing Gov. Deal Hopes Georgians Forget About

The First Lady of Georgia re-tweeted a not-too-flattering statistic from Georgia’s Teacher of the Year.

If we’re discussing the Governor’s track record on education, not sure this is something you want to promote when your husband is running for reelection…

If you are so inclined, here’s some more data (and a source for the stat) on our educational accomplishments.

It’s not as simplistic as “it’s Gov. Deal’s fault if kids aren’t reading proficiently by grade 4.” The lack of elementary school literacy is a complex issue. Kudos to him for taking the stance that we don’t simply throw more money at the public schools (including charter schools) as a cure-all.

Maybe bioengineering (better DNA) is the solution, not more money. As my grandmother said, you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.

What does the original comment mean? That schools are filled with dimwits incapable of learning? If that’s the case, I don’t think we should be criticizing the teachers and administrators like we do. We should sympathize with them.

Forget eugenics. Go ahead and try to stop genetic engineering. Consumers will line up for it, and you can’t deny them the choice.
