Druid Hills Could Join Atlanta

The AJC reports that some 4500 Druid Hills households are going to begin receiving information about joining the City of Atlanta.

According to the paper, residents will begin receiving information about leaving Dekalb or joining Atlanta. After that, a formal survey will be conducted.

It makes sense why Druid Hills residents would want to join Atlanta–the government is pretty well run and efficient. At the very least we can all agree its leagues better than Dekalb. It is also interesting to note that joining Atlanta seems to be the top priority, not creating a new city. If there’s any part of metro Atlanta that could afford to incorporate, Druid Hills is probably it.

Druid Hills won’t join Atlanta. It would mean exchanging one high tax bill for another with equally poor service. A much better choice; combined city of Lakeside/Briarcliff using the very logical Briarcliff boundaries and of course the combined city would be called. “Briarlake.”

Will Druid Hills residents have to pay the MOST sales tax of 1% and see their sewer/water bills skyrocket?

I’d seriously think twice about joining. I used to live in Atlanta and the water/sewer bills are no joke.

And think about how much you were paying for such an old system before Shirley Franklin…
