Deloitte, one of the world’s largest professional services firms, says the future is now and it is located in Atlanta.

The company is investing “tens of millions” to build its first “iLab” in Downtown Atlanta. When the site opens in Atlanta, some 400 high-tech jobs will work in the space. But what is an “iLab” you ask?

“Deloitte has made strategic decisions to invest in taking our intellectual property and creating cloud-based software and advanced analytics products,” said Paul Roma, a principal at Deloitte Consulting LLP. “The iLab is designed to be one of the physical spaces in the United States to build those products.”

We beat out six other cities for the rights to host the iLab (iLike saying iLab).

I know I’m an Atlanta homer but this honestly is a fantastic city and to remain a great, world-class city, these are the types of jobs we need to be attracting. What would help keep Atlanta as an attractive city is some sort of transportation and infrastructure plan. I just hope our leaders formulate one before its too late.

I didn’t see any mention of “tax incentives” in there. Did I miss something?

I doubt Deloitte needs any help figuring out tax advantages.

Downtown Atlanta I believe is classified as an Opportunity Zone which had some incentives associated with creating jobs in one.
