Good News From / For Jack Kingston?

Senate candidate Jack Kingston has scheduled an announcement for 1 PM today in Buckhead.  Readers of the Peach Pundit Daily already have a good idea what it’s about:

Third Place To Endorse Second Place To Propel Second Place To First.  Third place finisher in last week’s GOP Senate Primary Karen Handel told the Political Insider that she will endorse former rival Jack Kingston today at 1 PM.  Handel’s endorsement should come as little surprise to close watchers of this rollicking race. Handel and Perdue got into a very public tiff after the former Fortune 500 executive knocked Handel as the “high school graduate in this race.” Handel, who left a broken home at 17 and finished high school but never college, used it to try to depict Perdue as the candidate who has “lost touch with our values.” The AJC’s Greg Bluestein explains that Perdue knocking Handel as a “career politician” was salt in the wound to Handel, who had positioned herself as an outsider, which she actually is. Oh, these next months are going to be fun. (See below.)

Related And Even Bigger News, No Offense To Mrs. Handel. Herschel Walker endorses Jack Kingston. 20-some years in Congress and lots of time as an appropriator -in this anti-government, anti-Congress atmosphere, that sounds like a recipe for a runoff disaster, right? Not so fast. A solid base in southern and coastal Georgia, support from the Chamber of Commerce (via Herschel) and a conservative record that satisfies Karen Handel and the hardline conservatives means that Jack Kingston will be spending the next 9 weeks opening up cans of you-know-what on his opponent. Runoffs are different races, and Perdue just went from frontrunner to underdog. Pass the popcorn, Maudie, ‘cuz it’s going to be a heckuva show.

Eric the Younger and I plan to attend the event, and will let you know what happens. Meanwhile, you can discuss what this means in the comments.

Sorry Karen, I supported and voted for you, but I am not voting for Kingston, or Perdue. Any candidate that is perfectly acceptable to the US Chamber of Commerce – and both of them are – is not a candidate I will support anymore. We need to end crony capitalism, not send more crony capitalists to Washington. If that means we get Michelle Nunn, then so be it.

  2. rightofcenter says:

Your philosophy is brilliant. If more people follow it, we will not only end crony capitalism, we will end capitalism period! Just brilliant.

And your philosophy of voting for the “lesser of two evils” is why this country is in the hole we find ourselves. If my choices are both evil, what kind of choice is that? Blind party obedience just gets us more of the status quo. We should demand better from our candidates, but that’s hard to do when the Chamber of Commerce is spending millions to make sure we don’t get better candidates – but that we get candidates that will toe the Chamber line. Jack Kingston will certainly do that.

And, besides playing for UGA, exactly what has Herschel tried to do? No offense/defense Herschel your 15 minutes of fame were a long time ago! Gee, I guess I made some GA fans made? Get a positive involvement with one of the candidates and work your b–t off but don’t try to make people vote for a candidate, any candidate, just because they attended/didn’t attend your college. Smart people know when to speak and when to sit down. Thanks, Herschel; you were great in your prime. PS. I didn’t go to UGA (Iwas accepted but chose not to go) either but I did attend a top rated GA college and I have an education too.
