Yes, I know, it’s a non-binding referendum question, so it has no force, but it will be interesting to see how many Democrats (which, there were 1120 ballots cast in the Democratic gubernatorial primary in 2010 vs. 7721 ballots cast in the Republican gubernatorial primary in 2010 for perspective) are backing the legalization of marijuana.  According to NewsChannel9, the ballot question is phrased as:

“Should the State of Georgia legalize the possession of less that one  ounce of marijuana for adults 21 and older?”

Even if the straw poll garners a majority of Democratic support, I wouldn’t count on much support among the Whitfield County legislative delegation.

So, any other interesting ballot questions across the state? Feel free to share them in the comments.

Republican poll question on my Gwinnett ballot: Why horse racing? Because it worked so well in Birmingham?

“Should the Georgia Constitution be
amended so as to allow pari-mutual
wagering on horseracing with the proceeds
going towards education?”

The overhead on horse racing as a startup makes it cost prohibitive. I can’t help but think this poll question was added for validation of gambling prohibitions.
