Forest Park mayor blasts anti-gun group

Forest Park Mayor David Lockhart received a solicitation this week to join Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns. He didn’t just reject the offer.

In his reply, Lockhart ripped MAIG and its founder, calling the group out for what it really is:

I do not support your efforts. I oppose efforts to require private sellers with minimal sales (non-dealers) to perform background checks. I am proud that gun shows are regularly conducted in Forest Park.

If you really want to reduce illegal gun sales, perhaps your energy would be better focused in petitioning the BATF to end its illegal gunwalking. Because of Operation Fast and Furious, Brian Terry was murdered with a weapon sold by our own government.

Your organization claims that the goal is “protecting the rights of Americans to own guns, while fighting to keep criminals from possessing guns illegally,” yet none of your “Coalition Principles” further any such protections. One of the principles is to “keep lethal, military style weapons off our streets.” First, I am awestruck that you would focus on “lethal guns.” It seems that guns’ lethality is the point of their design. That you believe a gun’s “military style” makes it more lethal is asinine, and however you would define such style does not make guns so designed illegal. Your stated goals–protecting legal ownership and eliminating criminals from illegally possessing guns–are belied by your specific objectives. What you propose would convert what is currently legal possession into criminal behavior. You may have fooled other mayors, and you may have other fools who agree with your actual objectives, but you haven’t fooled me.

That your organization was founded by Michael Bloomberg, who criminalized the sale of sodas of a certain size, is telling. It is impossible to believe such a man is really concerned with the protections afforded by our Constitution.

I find the fact that someone thinks Fast and Furious, an operation that ended over three years ago, is currently the biggest problem with illegal weapons trafficking, calling someone else’s arguments asinine greatly amusing.

I find it greatly amusing that you thought the mayor claimed Fast & Furious was ” the biggest problem with illegal weapons trafficking”. He said no such thing. And I also find it amusing that you don’t care that the federal government violates laws on a regular basis and miss the irony of Bloomberg’s demand for more laws that will be selectively enforced.

But Brian Terry’s relatives are not amused.

David it appears you don’t really comprehend just what occurred with F&F.

So ignore F&F……. Ignore our AG Holder’s contempt of congress charge (first ever), ignore our commander in chief claiming lax American gun laws were the cause of Mexico’s crime wave and then force legal gun dealers to allow illegal known straw sales to occur then allow 2-2.5 thousand guns walk and never be tracked, that is until they were located in crime scenes, ignore our commander in chief invoking executive privilege and denying access to DOJ records, ignore that despite all this Obama still imposed yet even more gun laws in the southern border states using ironically the guns he arguably allowed to walk……. Why would they allow illegal guns to purchased by Mexican criminals and not track them other than keeping the serial numbers and waiting? The implications are so worrisome that if true, could result in the arrest of our nation’s leader.

This January 2014 another F&F gun turned up in another bloody crime scene at a Mexican resort shoutout.

The press pretty much ignored this and allowed our government to never take action against those responsible. The ATF “admits to mistakes”. So far that is what we get…. And then Benghazi, IRS etc. occurs…… Why not, we continue to ignore assigning responsibility.

There are only 12 Georgian mayors ignorant enough to swallow the swill that Bloomberg/MAIG and his newly acquired subsidiary 12/2012 Mom’s Who Demand Action sell. Jere Wood has his head firmly stuck in the trough.

Honorable Mayor David Lockhart is just aware and vocal about it and being aware is not a bad thing really.

Looks like California state Senator Leland Yee is the odds-on favorite to win the award for “Hypocrite of the Year”.

California state senator and gun-control advocate Leland Yee to law-abiding gun owners: “Turn in your guns……so that I can shamelessly make a quick buck by selling them to deadly criminals and outlaws”.

Looks like California state Senator Yee is an advocate of gun control alright…an advocate of letting his pockets control the profits that comes from illegally selling guns to the scum of the earth (or people like himself).

Guns shows and similar conventions are major employers. I applaud the Mayor for standing up for his community and the constitution.
