Rich Sullivan Back On Atlanta Radio At WGST

Most of us probably know Rich Sullivan as “Sully” from Dave FM.  He’s also one of the guys that helped push the issue of Sunday alcohol sales in Georgia into public awareness and over the finish line.

In one of the many format/DJ changes that have become ubiquitous with Atlanta radio he’s no longer with the FM music station as a drive time host, but instead has landed in the noon slot at the newly revised WGST.  Let’s just say that he’s a refreshing and local alternative to Rush Limbaugh.

I’ll be on with Sully today just after noon.  Check him out today or any other day this week at 640am, or listen live here.

I “tried” to listen to Sully last week. It was painful. There’s a huge difference between a little morning show banter on a music station, and trying to keep people engaged for an hour or two as host of a talk show.

It’s a new format, a new station, and a new audience for him. Give him time.

He’s got the ability. He’s not your standard “right wing” viewpoint found on AM/Talk radio. He’s going to have to play around a bit and get comfortable with his station, the listeners, and ultimately grow or bring his own audience.

I think he’s a good fit for the platform, and should be able to grow into the position quite nicely.

I will check this out. It’s nice to have a little local chatter in the afternoons, and after Clark Howard was booted for Rush, it was good while it lasted to have Melissa Carter on in the afternoons at 106.7. The Kimmer, though, is intolerable. It’s like listening to a live stream of Shares From Your Aunt.
