A Libertarian-leaning legislator has become caught in the crossfire over State Rep. Sam Moore’s proposed legislation legalizing loitering, and as a consequence allowing registered sex offenders to go to schools and other places they are currently prohibited from visiting.

House District 34 candidate Bert Reeves is running for the seat held by Rep. Charles Gregory. This afternoon, Reeves issued a press release condemning Moore’s bill. Reeves said,

I cannot stand for Charles Gregory’s and Sam Moore’s brand of governing when governing, to them, apparently means passing legislation that makes it easier for criminals to harm our families. As a former prosecutor, I know that it is the number one job of our government to keep us safe.

According to the release, Gregory supported Moore as a consultant and donor to his campaign.
