At a press conference now underway, the DeKalb County School System – Georgia’s 3rd largest – has been removed from Probation. Greg Bluestein of the AJC tweets:
The DeKalb school district now on “accreditation warned” – a step up from probation. Head of accreditation agency says much work remains.
We should all key in on the “much work remains” part. Georgia’s schools need to work. Just because the near-death experience is over doesn’t mean the problems are solved. This problem didn’t occur overnight, and it won’t be solved quickly either. Systemic change remains needed.
