Georgia Governor Nathan Deal delivered the 2014 State of the State speech in the House chamber this morning. If you missed it, you can read the full text as prepared for delivery here. And below is a video of his address, from MyAJC.com.
The big proposal in the address was to add $547 million to the education budget. State Senator Jason Carter (and Deal’s Democratic opponent in the governor’s race) called the additional money a shell game in his response to the speech. Creative Loafing has the back and forth.
Does the governor’s address increase his chances for re-election? Will the additional education dollars be enough to keep teachers from working against him as November approaches? Tell us in the comments.
