Continuing on my recent education binge, I saw this video from Channel 2 and thought there were some good ideas in it.

We so often hear that schools need more money, and in many cases that is true.  Michelle Rhee of Students First makes a good point. While I have been corrected about some previous assumptions about spending in some school districts, I have also been shocked about how much others are spending per student (I’m looking at you Atlanta).

If we want better schools (which we should, I for one do not wish to be surrounded by incompetence and mediocrity) then we should be following where the money goes and how much of each dollar actually gets spent on students. The less that gets wasted, then there is more available to ensure better opportunists for our kids when they graduate.

Really? People are still citing Michelle Rhee?

What’s your problem with citing Michelle Rhee, other than she’s anti-union?

Ed December 18, 2013 at 11:00 am

She has questionable numbers of “improvement” wherever she goes.

Let’s talk about room for improvement with the Atlanta numbers.

Guess how the State of Colorado finances new schools.

Go ahead, guess.
