Today on their Facebook page, Brian from Manuel’s Tavern confirmed that starting January 1st they will be a smoke free restaurant. This will bring the end to one of the last true smoke filled rooms in Georgia Politics.

Looking through the comments this looks to be an acceptable move, though there are a few that promise never to return.

I’ve still never been, but I doubt very seriously if Manuel Maloof himself ever would have agreed to such a thing.

If we give up our cigarettes, next thing they’ll come after is our liquor & our guns.

Except this is a private business. Private businesses should have the ability to allow / disallow whatever they choose. This move doesn’t bother me a bit.

Doesn’t bother me either … but I do think it’s weird.

And if I were bothered by the weird, I’d have to get out of this line of work.

they already have our liquor as a monopoly and sell it to us at a healthy kickback.

It’s not the guns I worry over, it is the ammunition access.

FINALLY I can sit in the booths at the bar! Manuel’s probably saw an increase in health care premiums by the exposure to 2nd hand smoke over the decades and made a business decision.

This leaves possibly the Highlander as the only eating/drinking/smoking/scoring in the bathroom in the general area for the Marlboro Ward citizenry?

Oh nanny state, why must your sword have two sharp edges??

If you smoke, and you like industrial music, there’s The Shelter.

If The Highlander and Manuel’s are close, there’s a ton of spots in EAV that qualify as “close.” Augustine’s is smoking friendly after 11 (or midnight, can’t remember).

Then there was Lenny’s. :(

If you like STDs and other bad trips, The Shelter would make an intriguing “hangout”.
