Biggest Weekend of the Year in Georgia

This weekend is the biggest weekend of the year for Georgians here and elsewhere. I am of course referring to the epic clash of gridiron titans at the Dome on Saturday, when your Georgia State University Panthers take on the University of South Alabama Gutless Pillows Jaguars. The Panthers are proudly the only team in Georgia to own a perfect record (0-11, one has to admire their consistency).

Mark Schlabach of ESPN has the Panthers picked as his upset of the week.

Also happening, Georgia Tech hopes to avoid embarrassment by winning only its third “home” game since 1989 and, if my math is correct, their fifth home game since both teams were integrated. One has to ask: if the Jackets can’t win this year, when will they be able to beat UGA?

With all that said…

I’m a GT alum, but I hope UGA beats the Jackets every year until CPJ is shown the door. If I’m lucky, I’ll only have to wait one more year.
