After a failed attempt to bring scheduled airline service to Gwinnett County’s Briscoe Field, Propeller Investments is planning to try again in Paulding County. Today’s AJC reports:
Propeller chief executive Brett Smith said he hopes to announce airline service to Paulding by year’s end after the airport receives necessary federal approvals. He said his firm is talking with carriers with jets in the size range of the Boeing 737. He declined to name the carriers.
“It’s going to be limited to start,” Smith said.
Smith’s plan to bring commercial service to Gwinnett failed last year for a number of reasons, including strong homeowner opposition, the acquisition of Airtran by Southwest Airlines, and Propeller’s response to the county’s Request for Proposals, which left too many open questions.
