In a razor close election in Colquitt County, interim Court Clerk Lynn Purvis defeated Shannon Hart by just 199 votes. With barely 17% voter turnout, the 1,582-1,383 triumph came following a dramatic special election cycle with yard sign shenanigans and anonymous flyers (surprisingly, not from Campaign for Liberty).
Purvis told the Moultrie Observer, “I’m very humbled by the supporters, the voters turning out for me,” after learning the results of the race Tuesday night. “It was a close race and I’m just thankful the voters believed in me and stood by me.”
Purvis has served in the Clerk’s office for 14 years under former Clerk Carolyn Marshall. Her term expires in 2016.
