Happening on this day in 1992 was the siege at Ruby Ridge, which sparked from a long standoff between federal agents and the Weaver family. Preempting the siege was the death of a federal Marshal, a Weaver child and a canine. The family later sued the FBI and the Marshal’s for $3.1 million.

  1. Noway says:

I know I’m glad our tax money is going to go to make Pvt. Bradley Manning a girl. Oh, and please call him Chelsea.

  2. Dave Bearse says:

Below are writings of Art Robinson. He’s the newly elected Oregon Republican Party Chairman, not simply a garden variety GOP wingnut on a soapbox. Oregon state party delegates actually elected this guy when there were others on the ballot.

“All we need do with nuclear waste is dilute it to a low radiation level and sprinkle it over the ocean—or even over America after hormesis is better understood and verified with respect to more diseases.” And: “If we could use it to enhance our own drinking water here in Oregon, where background radiation is low, it would hormetically enhance our resistance to degenerative diseases.”

“Public education (tax-financed socialism) has become the most widespread and devastating form of child abuse and racism in the United States. Moreover, people who have been cut off at the knees by public education are so mentally handicapped that they cannot be responsible custodians of the energy technology base or other advanced accomplishments of our civilization.”

If that doesn’t satiate your fix for crackpot comments from GOP leadership, there’s more at the link below:

    • Eric The Younger says:

You just succinctly illustrated the problem with the convention and delegate system. Only the nuts want to show up.

    • sockpuppet says:

Talk more about the knuckleheads in your own party before you criticize the ones in the GOP.

The Bernie Sanders thing is key. The guy – a United States Senator – is a self-identified socialist and self-identifies with the views of Communist Party propagandists such as Antonio Gramsci. Again, the guy is a UNITED STATES SENATOR. If a Mussolini-praising fascist were to get elected to so much as assistant dogcatcher, there would be endless outrage from the media and activists.

      Such hypocrisy …

      • Scott65 says:

Excuse me…but instead of acting like a 4 year old and say “well they do it to”…how about addressing the problem. Bernie Sanders is far more palatable then this wingnut. If you actually looked at his positions on several things you wouldn’t be so critical. Also…you need to look up fascist since by your use you have no clue what one is. A socialist is quite different. BTW, medicare…socialist, unemployment insurance…socialist, social security…socialist. He has no affiliation with the communist party that I know of…but you seem to be more concerned with deflecting attention from the bat shyt crazies that are running your party these days…Steve King BSC, Ted Cruz (aka modern McCarthy), and my favorite… Michele Bachmann. The funniest thing is I can name more quite easily. You wont be able to do that with very many on the other side since even your attempt here was a dismal failure

          • Scott65 says:

In the hearing for Defense Sec. Hagle, he implied that he (Hagle) was a tool for the Iranians without so much as a shred of proof or documentation. He “implied” it in a way that people would hear it and think it was true. He has used this tactic on several occasions to smear people. He doesn’t outright say it…its very vague and innuendo.. and that, is right out of the McCarthy playbook. Go back and look at some of his statements on youtube and see for yourself. Its the worst kind of thing that could destroy someones reputation and be completely untrue

      • Scott65 says:

…and your comment is the essence of why republicans will continue to lose state wide and nationally…its never about you. Its always about someone else

  3. greencracker says:

Saaaaay … I think I’ll kick my spouse off my insurance. I’ve been looking to save some scratch and I can use Obamacare as an excuse. #genius

I mean sure, he’s got insurance under his own job … that he pays into and doesn’t use. Well, get ready to get used, other company.

  4. Jon Lester says:

And Al Gore is richer than Mitt Romney now, because he sold his share of CurrentTV assets to the Qatari crown, which has its wealth exactly because of fossil fuels, and has now expanded the voice of Sunni supremacy with al-Jazeera America.

    • Noway says:

You got that right. I’ll bet praise and job offers will and should roll her way. What a cool customer! I love her!

        • Scott65 says:

you should watch the whole interview…this woman has nerves of steel. She has been through so much but yet she still gets up and keeps going, and 800 kids (and their parents) should be thankful that she did get up and keep going. At the end of the interview when she talks about the disabilities her son has she finally breaks down and cries. God bless her.
