Morning Reads 29 July 2013

Good morning from Washington. Enjoy your coffee and Monday morning, here’s what happened over the weekend.

Georgia

It looks like Athens is benefiting a little bit from all of this rain.

SC and GA can’t work together to build a port so the local county is about to take over.

I’m still not sure what to think about this yet, but on the surface seems like a halfway decent idea.

On the list of dysfunctional State parties? None other than the Georgia Democratic Party.

He may be back in jail, but that hasn’t changed Kramer’s tactics much.

National/International

The US has ruled out Torture and the Death Penalty for Snowden.

Life without parole plus 1000 years for Ariel Castro. Hopefully that includes some time in hell too.

You can polish a turd, but it’s still a turd. Messaging alone won’t fix Obamacare.

The Pope was a hit in Brazil.

This can’t be good.

Everything Else

Anthony Weiner has lost his campaign manager, but he’s still in the race for mayor.

Scientists, memories, and mice oh my.

If you missed Charlie yesterday, go read it.

Your mother never got to see the film industry’s subsidized reality TV, pawn stars, hard core pawn, Cajun pawn….. As they say in Atlanta, an honorable assistance for those in need. Think they’ll buy some tube TV´s ?

Those guys on the show are the only pawnbrokers I’ve ever known to offer more than half of resale value for anything, and I wonder how that differs from their off-camera practice.

Main reason you should avoid pawn shops in Georgia is because their owners are invariably unscrupulous and their prices are stupid.

Get your popcorn as the next mother of all “jobs” programs will be the tens of thousands of bodies, billions of dollars spent and unusual rate of fraud involving obamacare navigators.

Rain: I am a big believer in Global Warming. Just as GW dried up the waterways, GW is filling them up again. We must do our part to combat the Republicans’ efforts to burn and flood the planet.

Snowden: Death penalty is immoral and betrays everything which this great country stands for, especially considering that Edward Snowden, like Julian Assange and Bradley Manning, is an American hero for leaking documentation of the nefarious deeds of our government. For once, the USA got it right.

ObamaCare: Messaging isn’t the problem. The voters are just idiots.

Weiner: You heard it here first: Weiner will be the next Mayor of NYC, as well as a top VP contender for Joe Biden in 2016.

    • Harry says:

Weiner comes up short of reaching the NY mayor’s office. Also remember Hillary hangs with Bill and doesn’t need Weiner. Enough trolling for today.

Herb, please keep posting. Your ideas are as absurd as they are funny. Glad to see you in this mix!

    • Noway says:

Herb, was John Walker a hero? How about Aldrich Ames? How about Robert Hanssen? They gave up American secrets, too. Fine, fine role models….
