AJC: Governor To Suspend DeKalb CEO Burrell Ellis; Replace With Lee May

Per the AJC via Twitter, Governor Nathan Deal will suspend indicted DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis.  A decision on his replacement will be decided this week.

WSB’s Lori Geary reports from the Governor’s press conference that the replacement for Ellis will be DeKalb Commissioner Lee May.

    It will be interesting to see if Lee May ends the wasteful 24 hour police protection at the Ellis home.

        The 24 hour police protection is not a “benefit” like health insurance or a pension plan. It resulted from an agreement between Ellis and the police chief. May could show his independence from Ellis by ending this waste of manpower. Will he end it? I doubt it. Hopefully May will run the county better then he runs his personal finances for he has a history of bankruptcy.

    Governor’s been doing a lot of suspending lately…wonder if Cherokee County School Board member Ms. Marlow will get the same after her Grand Jury hearing August 12th?
