Come Enjoy Juneteenth Celebration With The Fulton GOP

In partnership with the Georgia Black Republican Council, the Fulton County Republican Party will host its first observance and celebration leading up to the official holiday on June 19th.  The First Annual FultonGOP Juneteenth celebration is a mix and mingle event and will be held Friday, June 14, 2013 at 5:00pm at bar One. (Address: 697 Memorial Drive Atlanta (Grant Park), GA  30316. Map.)

Damon Green, vice chairman of Fulton County Republican Party, says: “There have been quite a few stories handed down in my family explaining the two and half year delay. One was about a messenger who was murdered on his way to Texas with the news.  Another is that the news was covered up locally so plantation owners could maintain their labor force and would never find out.  The third is that Federal troops waited so that one last cotton crop could be harvested.  I am proud to be associated with the Party of Lincoln and spearhead the first annual celebration for the FultonGOP.”

Peach Pundit commenter Maggie Lee will be in attendance -and she urges you to do the same.

Hm, my family too has passed down tales, tales from the Reconstruction era, which mention the Republican Party, the word “scallawag,” etc.

But alas, people today don’t care enough about the old stories. It’s been 30 years since my Paw voted Democrat on the grounds that his Paw voted Democrat. Since then, he’s started paying attention to parties’ current platforms …

Also, I will buy Hassinger a drink at this event.

btw this is a good move… until only a token representation of the powers that be show up. Like…3 white dudes.

Then it gets akward for all involved.
