Barrow Now Facing 2014 Debate Minefield in Attempt to Hold GA12

(AUGUSTA, GA) – Embattled incumbent John Barrow jumped from the frying pan into the fire today as he declined a run for U.S. Senate in exchange for a desperate plea to hang onto Georgia’s 12th Congressional District in the House.

Barrow, who blasted his Republican opponent last fall over the lack of debates, now faces a challenge of at least six televised debates from the only announced 2014 GOP candidate, John Stone.

“Barrow can run from these debates, but he can’t hide this time based on his conduct and criticisms in 2012,” said Stone this afternoon on learning of Barrow’s decision not to run for Senate. “I am looking forward to hearing his excuses for our district having the worst unemployment in our state under his watch since 2005 – live and for the record.”

Ugh. The election’s not for another year and a half! Just chill a bit, guy. All the Senate hot air these days is bad enough.

It’s a good idea for the GOP candidate to challenge Barrow to debate, after the GOP primary in mid-2014 that is.
