Another Name Being Floated in GA-10

Rumor has it that former State Rep. John Lunsford, who represented parts of Butts, Henry, and Newtown counties, is considering a bid for the Republican nomination in the 10th Congressional District.

I reached out to Lunsford this morning to confirm the rumor. “I’ve been approached by a number of people about running,” Lunsford told me. “I’m praying about it, but I have not made a decision.”

With a lackluster field of currently announced candidates, Lunsford, who did not seek re-election in 2010, could find a niche in the race as both as fiscal and social conservative.

Interesting development. From Henry Co., the westernmost corner of the district.

The candidates thus far hail from the corners of the district: Hice (NW corner: Bethlehem), Sheldon (NW corner: Dacula), Simpson (SW corner: Milledgeville), and Slowinski (E corner: Columbia Co.).

Will there be a candidate along the I-20 corridor, from the heart of the district? Or from Athens? The biggest city in the district?
