Your Next Senator from Georgia Talks Guns

IMG_5088John Barrow, your next Class 2 Senator from Georgia, was featured on the cover of South magazine this month (pictured and sent to me from a friend).

He spoke to the magazine for a story on gun rights, doubling down on his schtick with the now-famous line about his guns: “ain’t nobody gonna take ’em away.”

As for supporting an assault weapons ban, Congressman John Barrow (D-GA) made his position clear. “That approach has essentially been tried and has failed. It may be unconstitutional but it is also clearly impracticable and will not work,” he says. “I would not vote for something that would be unconstitutional, and I certainly would not vote for something even if it would be constitutional, if it would be impractical and would not work.”

I should say that while the line works, it still seems schtick-y to me.

Anyway, for the full article, you’ll have to pick up the April/May “Adventure Issue featuring Savannah staycations.”

I saw him yesterday in Statesboro. As usual, he used his thick, hammy accent that he saves for rural parts of the district. He sounds like a completely different person when he’s in Augusta or DC. Evidently he thinks people in BuFu don’t have radios, televisions, or the internets.

…Bewildered Democrats and ruling Republicans alike take note: ^^^ THAT is how you run for statewide office in Georgia!

And no…ain’t NOBODY gonna take away our guns…and we’ll just leave it at that.

Barrow missed a great chance. Instead of posing with what looks like a Mauser action rifle he could have posed with an AR. Even better he could have a Youtube video shooting an AR with the editor of the magazine.

Or he could of used some of his Congressional mojo to determine the guns used by the marathon bombers and made that info public and sported ’em on the cover.
