Maybe I’m Reading Too Much Into It, But…

Both former Secretary of State Karen Handel and Dalton Mayor David Pennington are visiting Poole’s BBQ in East Ellijay, GA today at 11a.

Colonel Oscar Poole is definitely one of the “Who’s Who” in Georgia’s 9th District Republican politics…if not the entire state (he normally shows up at conventions in his signature yellow suit and Uncle Sam hat).  Perhaps both are just going to enjoy some fine barbecue in north Georgia, but the way 2014 is looking, it could be more than just a “simple barbecue lunch plate”.  If you’re near the area, it may be good to take your lunch at Poole’s BBQ.

Let your imagination run wild.

H/T to Martha Zoller for sharing Oscar’s announcement on Facebook.

WoW! Thanks for the head’s up on this “All Things Karen.” tidbit.

One can never under-estimate the persuasive and mystic power high quality BBQ has on Georgia politics. Today, the House Independent Caucus is serving Fatt Matt’s in Room 212 and Karen is going to enjoy Col. Poole’s ‘que, same time, yet a million miles away in terms of pol head space.

Power to the Pig!

Past candidates and politicians never eat at Poole’s for no reason. I believe Kingston called Oscar to have lunch one day as well. Poole’s BBQ is well rooted in Republican politics; not just district-wide or statewide, either (Colonel Poole was dubbed “Mitt Romney’s Biggest Fan” by several national news outlets).

Poole’s is overrated.

I actually like Pink Pig. Does that make me a dirty Democrat?

Pink Pony over pink pig.

Only if you had been to Harold’s would your BBQ preference indicate political allegiance.

“…never eat at Poole’s for no reason.” and that is a UGA cap you proudly doff, lad?

It’s called a classic Southern double negative. I find it endearing to use. I also like miffing the grammar police on blogs; shows how easy it is to get on some people’s nerves.

I can’t not agree with that.

“Sum of the people who ate mah barbiecue di’n't vote fowa me.” — Governor Marvin Griffin upon his failure to be reelected.

Given some of his current numbers Gov. Deal needs to be scaring up a supply of pigs :) for 2014. I suppose in his case chickens will have to suffice.
