So there will be a protest in support of the 2nd Amendment on Friday at the Gold Dome. So no one be shocked or surprised when you see folks dressed up like they were in the Revolutionary War holding muskets. Although, there will probably be a few people sporting the scary black “assault” weapons too. To quote an event page “GEORGIA 2ND AMENDMENT GROUP WOULD LIKE TO INVITE ALL FREEDOM LOVING PATRIOT TO THE STEPS OF THE GEORGIA STATE CAPITAL ON THE 8TH OF FEBRUARY, 2013. THIS IS A PROPERLY PERMITTED ARMED RALLY IN SUPPORT OF OUR CONSTITUTION AND IN PARTICULAR OUR 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHTS. HIGHLY MOTIVATED SPEAKERS WILL BE THERE.”

–>On a serious side note. Ya’ll, if you’re going, DON’T do anything DUMB and please follow the best practices that the protest organizers have laid out.

Also, sign up here. How many times do we have to tell you?

Somehow a gaggle of armed NRA nutters doesn’t make me feel at all safe. Three organizations I belong to made their enemies list. I hope they at least show up sober.

Does that mean the speakers will be the equivalent of the groom at a shotgun wedding?

The confirmed speakers include Georgia Carry’s Jerry Henry and John Monroe, Gun Owners of America’s Larry Pratt, state senator Barry Loudermilk, and state rep. Ed Setzler.

So…. I was there on Friday… and from a media standpoint – this event was a total bust !
300 armed citizens, starting out with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, armed GSP Officers
all around the Capitol, people walking back and forth on the sidewalk…

and…. No one got shot… not even on negligent discharge…. Speeches, applause, rain, buttons, brochures… Boooooring :) And a perfect example of law-abiding citizens exercising their rights ! and with guns no less. And yes… several Legislators came out to mingle and say hello.
