Anderson Campaign Issues A Cry For Help – Updated With Candidate’s Amnesia

Seriously, is this the press release you would get from a campaign that thinks it is winning?

For Immediate Release

November 2, 2012

(Grovetown, GA) – In a blatant display of arrogance and a complete disregard for decency, endangered Congressman John Barrow is leveraging his elected position today to gather media and local veterans at the American Legion Post 205 just days before the General Election.

“Desperate politicians do dumb things,” said Ryan Mahoney, Communications Director for Lee Anderson. “Using the American Legion, a non-partisan organization, and our veterans as political pawns to advance his re-election efforts is completely unethical and downright dirty.

“Like his best friend, President Barack Obama, John Barrow will use any location, any situation, and anyone to promote his political agenda and grandstand in front of the cameras.

“John Barrow has reached an all-time low and should apologize to the American Legion for violating the strict bylaws of their organization,” said Mahoney.   “He should also grovel in front of our brave veterans for disrespecting their service and sacrifice for the sake of free television time.”

According to the National Constitution for the American Legion Article 2, Section 2: “THE AMERICAN LEGION shall be absolutely nonpolitical and shall not be used for the dissemination of partisan principles nor for the promotion of the candidacy of any person seeking public office or preferment.”

“Desperate politicians do dumb things.”  Indeed.

UPDATED with fresh irony. Please note the LOCATION of Mr. Anderson’s CAMPAIGN stop to discuss “Military Matters” with Representative Joe Wilson (R-SC) in a press release supplied to Peach Pundit On October 29, 2012:

Using an American Legion Post for political purposes! Trrr-uhbull, just trr-uhbull!

Using an American Legion Post for political purposes! Trrr-uhbull, just trr-uhbull!

All right that’s about enough. Just for that cheesy statement “We’re coming to Peach Pundit and h#ll’s coming with us!”

      • bowersville says:

Thanks. The original statement was “We are coming to Athens and h#ll’s coming with us” which was used as an answer as to whether a candidate would attend a debate in Athens during the special election run off to fill the old CD-10 seat. Sometimes statements have unintended consequences. The above statement about Athens inflamed Democrats in Athens-Clark County to such a degree that the Democratic votes helped elect Congressman Paul Broun.

IMHO, the Anderson press release to a degree has unintended consequences in that he and the Congressman from South Carolina did the same as Barrow with one exception. Anderson brought heat on a veteran’s organization in his own county by making it known to the world that the American Legion in Augusta broke the rules too. Not good.

        • Calypso says:

Actually, I think the line was from the movie ‘Tombstone’ said by Wyatt Earp as it relates to a fight with the Clantons.

Revelations 6:8 is the original source for Wyatt’s memorable threat,

8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

          • bowersville says:

That line worked pretty good in the movies. Not so well in Athens as h#ll didn’t show up. Only a campaign staffer.

  2. Matt Stout says:

Is there any irony when many of Broun’s staff from 2007 are now working for the Revelations 6:8 consultant? lol

  3. SGa Hick says:

I can’t figure out what the best name for Anderson is. Honey BooBoo? Jethro Bodene? Homer Simpson? The problem is that using another person or character to explain him is too mean to the person being used.
