Have mercy.  They seem to let just about anyone into events these days as “media”.  I am now one of them.  My apologies to all of the real media people who are now offended.  I’m offended for you, but hey – who doesn’t love a good gala??  Mama’s going.

For those interested in my social life, I mean newly-minted media life, I’ll be going to an event honoring “Mr. Buckhead” Sam Massell next Thursday.
The Council for Quality Growth is proud to announce that Mayor Sam Massell will receive the 23rd annual Four Pillar Award for his life of civic and public service and commitment to his community.

The event will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2012 in the Georgia Ballroom at the World Congress Center. The reception begins at 6:00 p.m. with the dinner and Tribute following at 7:15 p.m.

Four Pillar is the Council’s annual leadership award which celebrates the principles of Quality, Responsibility, Vision and Integrity. Past honorees have included R. Charles Loudermilk, Sr., Arthur Blank, Mayor Shirley Franklin, Tom Cousins and Senator Johnny Isakson.

Like a true nerd, I’ve been reading up on Mr. Massell and hope I get to meet him.  The whole event interests me –   the Who’s Who of Atlanta speaker line-up; the extensive sponsor and partner list; the background reading material – all of it.  I’m really looking forward to attending.  I’ll report back on any good stuff from the event next weekend.

Find me and say hello if you’re there.  I’ll be the quiet wallflower off to the side.

Sam Massell is very deserving of this award, he has done a lot for Atlanta. This is always a great event. Better than most.

Neil Boortz’s party should be more fun.

And with a happy ending.
