Beaudreau-Hunter Recount Today

Incumbent County Commissioner Mike Beaudreau is seeking a recount of the ballots in his 57-vote loss to challenger Tommy Hunter, according the Dacula Patch. The recount will start at 4 today and should finish up early this evening.

Why would anyone request a recount in the era of electronic ballots? I mean, Diebold has spoken! Isn’t that like entering the same problem into a calculator and looking for a different answer? Yes, but check the full results here and see the number of absentee-by-mail ballots cast in that race. Beaudreau won the absentee by mail and the advance in-person categories. He may not pick up any votes, but in a race that close, it’s worth taking a second look at everybody’s absentee ballots.

Tommy Hill? A Freudian slip, I presume.

Tommy Hill? Tommy Hunter? Hunter Hill? There must be a conspiracy there somehow.

No Freudian conspiracy, just a simple typo. Don’t know exactly why I didn’t catch that. Thanks for spotting it and allowing me to used the “edit feature” that is denied to you commenters.

This just in! All five Gwinnett Commie-shiner appointed garbage haulers have simultaneously found improperly disposed absentee ballots.

The Gwinnett Daily Post is reporting the recount has been completed with surprise… the exact same results. Beaudreau lost by 57 votes. He threw a few sour grapes in that the Legislature should remove the 50% rule but what the hell, sour goes with dour. The boy has had a mighty long face as of late.

The recount only took 2 hours since all that had to be hand counted are the absentee ballots.
