Governor’s Agenda 2013: Expand Prison Education

Governor Nathan Deal faces no re-election campaign and thus is freed up to be working on his legislative agenda for the 2013 General Assembly (when he’s not exercising his first amendment rights).

In an interview this afternoon with Dennis O’Hayer, Deal outlined plans to expand education and rehabilitation efforts within Georgia’s prisons.  The initial announcement was made in an address to the United Negro College Fund luncheon, with the O’Hayer interview following.

Listen to the interview here.  Then click your heels together three times and wish the campaign season was over and we could get back to governing.

Good to see the governor making this a priority. Our incarceration and recidivism rates are ridiculously high. I hope they make some progress.
