Atlanta TEA Party – Peach Pundit – PolitiKlout Ethics Text Poll

In May, the Atlanta TEA Party and Peach Pundit teamed up with PolitiKlout to determine views regarding the upcoming T-SPLOST vote.  We had hoped to run the poll 3 times before the election.  However, with multiple polls recently out on T-SPLOST, we have decided to poll the issue of gift caps for lobbyists instead.

To participate, text “ethics” to 28748

Do you support ending Georgia’s practice of unlimited gifts to legislators from lobbyists?

A) Yes

B) No

C) Undecided

ONE PHONE NUMBER, ONE VOTE.

The poll will run through Wednesday at 5:00pm.

We’ll also  take this opportunity to present some background on our partner, PolitiKlout, who will be conducting this poll:

PolitiKlout uses voter data, text messaging, and social media to connect candidates and causes with relevant constituents.

The company has refined voter data of one of the largest available lists of constituents within the state of Georgia, and the social media contact information (when applicable) of those potential voters.

PolitiKlout currently serves customers in races at the State-wide, U.S. Congressional, State House/Senate and county levels.

Because, after all, there are only so many ways that voters can say “HELL NO” to T-spLOST.

  2. The cool thing about these text polls is that it’s a pretty noninvasive way to anonymously vote your conscience on these issues. Web-based polls tend to get manipulated (a la the Paul Bots and their ilk), and polls through social channels like Facebook tend to broadcast your stance to the world. I figure advocates will post their beliefs to personal channels regardless, but a poll should be anonymous by nature.

My thoughts exactly. With so many folks ditchng their home lines, it can be tough for pollsters to find new numbers to dial…

What about a complete ban on gifts to legislators? Why do they need to be wined and dined by lobbyists? Ban all gifts, investigate and prosecute those who offend, get rid of all the crooks! I don’t have a bit of sympathy for those who just want to perpetuate the system of corruption we now have!
