Follow Up to Dropped Frivolous Lawsuit

Jane Bradshaw and Melanie Goux, two of the people named in the absurdly frivolous, stupid, time wasting lawsuit from Rashad Richey, the DPG Political Director have released a statement.

We are very pleased that the lawsuit against us has been dismissed and cannot be filed again. Though we were never served with the lawsuit, and therefore did not have a chance to defend our names in court, we know that we never did anything wrong.

Ultimately, it is in the best interest of all parties that this dispute is resolved.  We look forward to working to elect Democrats in Georgia this Fall.

We are grateful for the outpouring of support from many in the Democratic community, including the legal community, and would like to acknowledge our lead counsel, Stefan Turkheimer, Turkheimer & Hadden LLC, for bringing this matter to a satisfactory resolution.

Melanie has a bit more to say here.

Andre’s lawyers aren’t celebrating just yet over a victory for their client.

Rashad Richey and his attorneys get to foot [my] $17,232.45 bill.

My attorneys have agreed to accept a compromise amount of $15,000, if paid by Friday, June 8th at 2PM. If not, Austin & Sparks goes to court, files a Motion for Attorneys’ Fees pursuant to O.C.G.A 9-15-14 next week for the full amount of $17,232.45.

So the lesson of the day is: don’t be stupid.

IANAL but the Ls I did talk to said there is a “decent” shot Andre’s lawyers could win their case but they doubt it will be for the full amount they are seeking. Perhaps the esquires among our commentariat can offer their take below.
