PSC Commissioner Stan Wise Draws Primary Opposition

The Peach Pundit Tip Line received a press release this morning:

ATLANTA – Renewable energy expert and advocate Pam Davidson has announced her candidacy for the District 5 post on the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) in the July 31 Republican primary.

“Georgia needs new leadership on the PSC to effectively address rising energy costs for the ratepayers of our state,” said Davidson. “Over the past 18 years, the incumbent candidate has received about 95 percent of his campaign money from the utilities he is supposed to be regulating, fostering a cozy relationship with those utilities while Georgia consumers have paid the price.”

Pledging not to accept campaign contributions or gifts from the entities regulated by the PSC, Davidson said she would lead the effort for serious ethics reform to ensure that protecting the consumer is always a top objective in investor-owned utility rate case considerations.

The PSC’s district 5 is currently represented by Stan Wise. Wise has served on the PSC since 1995, according to his bio.

As her press release points out, Davidson ran for PSC in 2008, losing in the GOP Primary to Bubba McDonald.

Hopefully she’ll position herself as a friend of the consumer without being crazy green.

The map with Rockdale in the Fulton/Clay/DeK district is the new map for this decade.

If you like Pam, do more than just follow. PSC Commissioners are elected just like the governor, STATEWIDE. Everyone who votes can do so for either candidate. The candidates have to live in certain districts (thanks to the Democrats), but they represent and are voted for by citizens all over the state.
