One Of Our Own Announces Re-Election Bid

One of our very own, member of the Georgia House of Representatives, and generally all-around good guy Buzz Brockway (R-Lawrenceville) announced on Friday that he has decided to run for a 2nd term as the gentleman from the 102nd (it was 101 but was renumbered to the 102nd district after the new lines were drawn).  Representative Brockway’s presser is below the fold for your viewing pleasure:

Representative Buzz Brockway announced today he would seek reelection to the State House of Representatives. For the past two years Brockway has represented district 101 covering parts of Lawrenceville and Suwanee. Because of reapportionment the district number will change to district 102 and the lines will shift somewhat. “It’s been an honor to represent the people of Lawrenceville and Suwanee in the State House and I’d be honored to continue to represent their interests at our State Capitol for the next two years” Brockway said.

Over the past two Legislative sessions a number of important measures dealing with illegal immigration, human trafficking, abortion, criminal and juvenile justice reform, education, and jobs have passed. This week the House and Senate passed HB386 to remove taxes on energy for manufacturers, reduce the marriage penalty, and replace the sales and ad valorem taxes on automobiles with a one time title tax.

“I’m proud of what has been accomplished over the past two years but much more needs to be done. We’ve taken positive steps in reforming education, improving how government works, and creating a better environment for businesses to create jobs. However we shouldn’t be satisfied with unemployment over nine percent and a State educational system near the bottom of the nation in student performance. I will continue to fight to make Georgia the best place in America to work, live, and raise children” Brockway said.

Buzz Brockway was first elected to the State House of Representatives in November of 2010 and is a member of the Children & Youth, Governmental Affairs, and Insurance Committees. He has been involved in Georgia politics since the mid-1990’s and served as Chairman of the Gwinnett Republican Party from 2002 – 2005. He also served the Gwinnett Republican Party as a Precinct Captain, District Manager and 2nd Vice Chairman. Since 2005 Buzz has blogged at Peach Pundit, the State’s most popular independent political blog. He is a 1990 graduate of Georgia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Management Science and runs a small business in Lawrenceville with his wife Christa. They are the proud parents of three daughters; Hope, Grace, and Joy. The Brockways are active members of Victory World Church at Hamilton Mill. Buzz is 45 years old and a 36 year resident of Lawrenceville.

Good luck, Buzz!  You’ve done a great job in the General Assembly so far.  Hope to see you back down there for the 2013-2014 session.  Just an FYI, he may make an appearance at Monday’s Peach Pundit Roadshow (alas, I will not be able to grace the assembly with my presence on Monday).  If he shows up from hobnobbing, wheeling, and dealing from his lavish lifestyle under the Gold Dome, ask for his autograph.

Wow, they just let anyone run for reelection these days, even if they don’t get the blogger resolution off the ground.

Just kidding Buzz, I wish you well 🙂

Buzz, if you need anyone to campaign for the vast expansion of HOT Lanes on your behalf during your campaign, I’m your man as I LOVE standing in front of and going back-and-forth with hostile crowds.

Just kidding! Everyone knows that I don’t like to stand in front of hostile crowds.

…I love diving headfirst into them at full speed. (lol)

Anyways, good luck to you, Buzz, in your quest for re-election to the Georgia House of Representatives.
