Emory celebrates 175 years since founding

Among the facts the University notes in its “Community Impact Study” is that 25% of physicians currently practicing in Georgia were trained at Emory.

The University employs 23,354 Georgians and FY2010 payroll totaled $1.6 billion.

Emory Healthcare is the largest health care system in Georgia and provided $63.5 million in charitable healthcare in FY2010.

Emory and Emory Healthcare have budgeted more than $780 million in construction projects over the next five years.

    Fact #5: Since the 1981 Collegiate Football Season, Emory has as many National Championships as UGA.

    I wish that Emory was a member of the Ivy League. Emory’s got the financial funds and endowment, the rigorous academic curricula and stature to do so, not to mention that it would be so incredibly awesome to have Atlanta, Georgia and the Southeast represented in one of the world’s best groupings of academic institutions.

    I know that it’ll never happen, but one can dream can’t they?
