Following up from today’s post about Obama, it seems MSNBC’s “First Read” blog thinks similarly to the Obama campaign (MSM is in bed with Obama…makes sense). In a post on “the battleground map”, the crack political team over there thinks:
“A few states to keep an eye on THIS year when it comes to the Obama campaign: AZ, GA, and TX. All three are long shots, but all three showed significant population gains for minorities in the last 10 years.”
I’m kind of wondering, (and I see-saw on this) do they know something we don’t, or are these prediction just part of a detachment from what we see on the ground and a disconnect from what’s happening?
Time will tell I suppose.
Oh, and for some thing else to marinate on: according to MSNBC, Democrats have 67 solid EC votes, 105 likely, and 60 leaning, for a total of 232 votes. Republicans on the other hand have 53, 97, and 41 respectively, for 191. Remember it takes 270 to win.

This statement from the Obama campaign is just part of what they have to do. Given the unique dynamic of presidential campaigning, from political strategy and tactic choice, to fundraising and defining the agenda for the campaign President Obama has to be conducting himself as any private company would to potential investors.
GA, AZ and Texas are not battleground states. While the proportions of Obama constituencies and supporters has grown in these states according to Census numbers, there are four election cycles in a row that indicate that those populations are big enough to swing any of those three states. It will be interesting to see how much the Tea Party band-wagon has shrunk and how active remaining member will prove to be…they are not getting their way in Congress and proving ineffective with their symbolic and ideological strategy of sub-party level obstructionism. It is not likely that will even matter in the Presidential contest as the most likely candidates the GOP has are not tea-baggers.
Has Lloyd Christmas been named Georgia Chair for Obama2012?
Rest assured, Obama’s Chair for GA will be wildly more successful and intelligent that you, John Vestal.
If you are such a right-winged capitalist and normative role-model, why are you not wealthier than Obama and his advisers? Why are you not a Law Professor at the University of Chicago? Are you on Goldman-Sachs board of directors or a Federal Reserve board member?
Yeah, I did not think you were.
Crawl into your hole and turn off the radio.
I automatically ignore any pro-Democrat news that comes from MSNBC in the same way I automatically ignore any pro-Republican news that comes from FoxNews. Both are paid mouth pieces of their particular slant.
Contrary to what MSNBC says, Obama ain’t got a chance in heck of winning any of those three states, much less more than one of them. He’ll also lose Virginia and Florida.
Contrary to what FoxNews says, Obama has better than a d@mn good shot of being re-elected, and it absolutely DOES matter who the Republicans nominate. Nominate Bachman, Gingrich, or Santorum and he’ll win without a fight.
…or Palin, or Barbour, or Huckabee. The Republicans had better make sure they choose the right guy this election cycle or they will be wandering around with their figer stuck up their collective rear for another four years.
Unfortunately, on the Republican side, I see far too many politicians interested in running for the presidency and far too few statemen in the quest.
…or Trump or Cain or Paul. Actually, now to think of it there are waaay more unelectable R’s in the field, and maybe only a couple of electable. I see the Republicans falling into Obama’s trap and are looking like loonies (“lets shut’em down” “where’s the birth cert…etc.), while Obama is posturing as the moderate “adult in the room.” Additionally the GOP needs to realize, as polls have shown again and again, the TP isn’t nearly isn’t relevant to the average American as they would like to think they are.
I agree with all of these points, especially the Roster of POTUS Mediocrity:
Bachman, Gingrich, or Santorum, or Palin, or Barbour, or Huckabee, or Trump, or Cain, or Paul.
“Houston, we’ve got a problem.”
What we need is a Turner and an Overdrive, and then we’ll have a winner with Bachman.
Barack Obama and his PR team are masters of managing public image. They know that perception is reality, and I see this as an attempt to shore up support in the true battleground states by giving the impression that they’ve already checked them off as winnable and see hope in winning some red states. I believe it’s the same tactic they’ve used to talk gas prices higher and tear down the image of American healthcare through media coverage.
luckily there will be plenty of polls in the coming months showing these predictions to be false. Dishonest and delusional perceptions do not equal reality when there is more than one news outlet.
Oh yeah…because we all know the President determines gas prices…not market speculators and hedge fund managers. As for OPEC and the oil companies…forget about them, they have no say in the price of oil.
The government is not the cause of all inconvenience…American healthcare is corrupt and so is big oil. Get over your conspiracies.
The irony.
“Oh yeah…because we all know the President determines gas prices…not market speculators and hedge fund managers”
So GC, were you educating your lib buddies when they were making the EXACT SAME uneducated allegations when W was in charge….I would guess not…
And in fairness to Joshua, I’m pretty sure he was referring to how YOUR folks created such a perception of a “gas and health ‘crisis’ b/c Bush” of in 2008.
