Nathan Deal: The sky is blue, grass is green and my head is empty

Today Nathan Deal was back in pander bear mode blathering to some group somewhere in Georgia. It doesn’t matter who. It doesn’t matter where. But what was noteworthy, in the vein of “math class is tough,” was this gem from our incoming leader.

Deal said he hasn’t had a lot of time before his Jan. 10 inauguration to fully examine the workings of state government, but he has learned at least one thing.

“I’ve been amazed at how big state government really is,” he said.

I’m glad he is just now realizing this fact. Very helpful. Oh, and we’re screwed.

A rare, but much-appreciated, Pete Randall sighting!

Now is a little late to be amazed at the size of the state government, but hey, I appreciate his honesty.

Does it bother anyone else that a former member of our federal government is surprised at the size of our state government?

Lady Thinker December 10, 2010 at 10:56 pm

It sure surprises me. He was a legislator for 18+ years for the state of Georgia and had no idea what he was representing? No wonder he got rich padding his pockets. I don’t think I would have admitted that, as it goes into the same category as the “island tipping” comment.

What Deal was really surprised about was that the State’s debts are in billions and his are only in millions. Humbling experience, I suppose.

What Hath God Wrought?

*cringes*

Pete Randall is anti-Deal? Huh. I have nothing negative to say about that, I’m simply surprised. He never posted much (at all?) about the governor’s race while it was ongoing.

Perhaps there is a new hand inside the sock.

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeff December 7, 2010 at 9:24 pm

Would it be too much to ask for a Governor committed to actually cutting said big government?

Guess we’ll find out when we see his budget.

Has anyone here actually MET Gov. Elect Deal?

Has anyone here actually MET Pete Randall?

I know one is real.

analogkid December 7, 2010 at 9:59 pm

I’ve been on his case for months, but it’s like trying to disprove the existence of God. For instance, supposedly he’s an Atlanta lawyer (per his redstate profile), but he is not registered with the Georgia Bar.

And not that it’s hard to create a fake FB page, but I did find this: http://www.facebook.com/kingtuba1?ref=ts

That is a homely-looking SOB. C’mon anyone as erudite as MR. Pete Randall cannot look like that.

A ruse, it is a ruse, a ruse I tell you—A ruse!

analogkid December 7, 2010 at 10:07 pm

His fictitious mother would disagree.

Ken in Eastman December 9, 2010 at 5:24 pm

Are you openly stating, sir, that a ruse has arisen?

Said it once, I’ll say it again. This man is an idiot.

Lady Thinker December 10, 2010 at 10:58 pm

Agreed!

sofnbc December 8, 2010 at 6:56 pm

Don’t blame me, I voted for EJ.

Jeff December 9, 2010 at 4:50 am

Don’t blame me, when it mattered, I voted Libertarian.

I skipped the race in the GOP primary – EJ may have been the best there, but I just couldn’t pull that trigger.

Lady Thinker December 10, 2010 at 10:59 pm

I voted for the best candidate – Karen Handel.
