GOP Senate leadership rumor

I received an e-mail this morning that claimed that Senate leadership is allegedly meeting at a location away from the Capitol, and is purposefully excluding members of the Committee on Assignments appointed by Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle; Jeff Mullis and Jim Butterworth.

Included in the e-mail was this:

In this economy they plan on meeting at a swank, expensive location when they have every room at the Cap @ their disposal… So they can deliberate without the [two] LG appointees… Word now is they have changed meeting locations because word of the 191 Club meeting location leaked.

Exclusion of LG appointees (lied about sharing power), meeting [at] a private fancy location (expensive). Is Senate Leadership experiencing a touch of arrogance, the likes of which brought down a guy named Richardson, former speaker of the house.

Oh this upcoming session is going to be fun.

From Jim Galloway:

The state Capitol is four floors of empty space in December. Vacant. Vacuous. Hollow, even. Even so, the state Senate’s new ruling Committee on Assignments couldn’t find an empty conference room to hold an organizational meeting today. Six of its members have decamped to the 191 Club in downtown Atlanta. And no, Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle’s two appointees were not invited. Because this is how power-sharing works.

Wow… Casey Cagle doesn’t even have the courtesy to write “Happy birthday!” on my Facebook wall once a year. Yet he privately emails you pages from his personal slam book? You’re an important guy! :)

No rumor to this post. Six of the 8 members met.

The comparison to Richardson fits.

I heard they moved their meeting to the private Legislators Room at the Pink Pony.
