Dillard, Blackwell, Appointed To Court Of Appeals

Just saw the news that Governor Sonny Perdue has made two appointments today to Georgia’s Court of Appeals. Macon attorney and “all around good guy” Steve Dillard got one of the posts. I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Steve over the past year, and I believe he will be a solid addition to the bench. Sincere Congrats to Judge Dillard.

Atlanta Attorney and presumably an all around good guy Keith Blackwell (we haven’t met, which probably worked in his favor) got the other. Updated: Since posting, I’ve received a few emails from folks whom I respect a lot, vouching for Judge Blackwell as a top graduate of his law school class, extremely bright and personable, and also an all around good guy. I still can’t help but to think that the fact that he’s never met me helped him secure this appointment.

The posts were vacated by the death of Judge Debra Bernes, and a retirement by Judge Alan Blackburn.

I wish both of luck. Just wish that when I read their resumes, I saw something more than a list of all the GOP campaigns they have aided, assisted, and/or chaired. But then again, I still want to live in a fantasy world where folks get rewarded based on merit.
