What a day on the courthouse steps!

Senior U.S. District Judge Jack T. Camp Jr. from the Northern District of Georgia was arrested Friday night for purchasing and using cocaine, marijuana, Hydrocodone and Roxycodrone since last spring and using them with an exotic dancer he met at the Goldrush Showbar on Metropolitan Avenue in Atlanta. When FBI agents arrested the judge they found two illegal firearms in his car along with a bag containing blue pills and a white powdered substance. Niiiicccceeeeeee.

Meanwhile, Jay Walker (former aide to Glenn Richardson and now former chief aide to Mike Keown) has been indicted on federal charges of vote-buying to legalize electronic bingo in Alabama. Book ‘em!

Quite a memorable day for Republicans in Georgia (they both were).

[UPDATE] Peach Pundit’s Exotic Entertainment Advisors, Bambi and Kiki, deny any knowledge of Camp’s alleged indiscretions and further add, “Ewwww, he’s all old…and stuff.”

Strippers, booze, blow, AND gamblin’?

That’s my idea of a great Monday.

Bad day for the judge and Walker. Not sure for Keown.

And I assume Obama is gonna stick us with one of them lib’ral activist judges now too…

Actually, I guess I read too quickly…

Scratch the booze, add some pills instead…

Three Jack October 4, 2010 at 5:39 pm

the gop is challenging uga for most arrests in 2010.

What you want to bet that the stripper has a Hell’s Angel boyfriend in prison and she set up the Judge to get her boyfriend sprung from the slammer….or something thereabouts. Doesn’t excuse the Judge’s behavior though.

It was a major get-out-of-jail-free card.

Looks like they gave us Dale Peterson and we gave em Jay Walker.

If the FBI is cracking down on drugs and sex and the combination of the two with public officials, then some members of the Georgia Legislature have to be shaking in their boots…

GOPwits October 4, 2010 at 8:21 pm

or heels, however the case may be…

inlimine October 4, 2010 at 9:11 pm

Have you been looking at sealed divorce records?

Lady Thinker October 4, 2010 at 9:40 pm

One can only wish.

GOPwits October 4, 2010 at 8:25 pm

Jay Walker is just the latest example of Republicans from Georgia who say one thing in the day light and live a different way at night time…

Conservatives though have been selling their votes and support for a long time now though… Especially some of these so called conservative groups. I wonder if there is a part of the FBI that looks into those kinds of schemes?

Mark Rountree October 4, 2010 at 8:29 pm

How surprising.

Romegaguy October 4, 2010 at 9:29 pm

and the US Attorney in Montgomery is a W appointee that is close to the current GOP Governor of Alabama. Maybe Jay didnt offer the right people money

Rick Day October 4, 2010 at 10:59 pm

The judge is just another victim of Prohibition.

*snerk*

I shudder at the thought that what happened in Alabama is the new ‘business as usual’ in politics. Seriously, think about that. That is something I could support a death penalty for.

Lance October 5, 2010 at 12:54 am

Does anyone seriously believe that Glenn Richardson did not benefit from (by way of his PAC) and condone Jay Walker’s tactics? I have no doubt what has apparently happened in Alabama is going on here in Georgia. Just look at the legislators in key positions and how much money in contributions and dinners and tickets are flowing their way. Some legislators are constantly in the company of lobbyists. And that is just the obvious stuff. Want to bet there are some bigger dollars flowing? And remember, Glenn was among the first to support Nathan Deal. Peas in a pod!

Medic8310 October 5, 2010 at 12:56 am

I thought all judges were non-partisan.

GOPwits October 5, 2010 at 12:57 am

Wait, doesn’t the fact that this judge gave stiff sentences justify the fact that he had to find a sense of release from drugs and whores? After all, the fact that Deal is a Republican doesn’t get in the way of the fact that he is unethical, used shady accounting to avoid paying taxes, and is under investigation.

I just want to make sure that I keep my double standards uniform in evaluating crimes and ethical lapses of public officials.

Lady Thinker October 5, 2010 at 6:02 am

Does it seem to you that more judges are getting caught with their hands in the cookie jar lately?

dorian October 5, 2010 at 7:10 am

They are getting something caught, but I think you need to go a little lower than the hand.

Lady Thinker October 5, 2010 at 10:59 pm

Exactly right.

Jane October 5, 2010 at 8:05 am

If only Ralph R was involved somehow it would have been perfect. Corrupt partisans let their own side down and do not deserve forgiveness.

Romegaguy October 5, 2010 at 3:21 pm

He is probably representing the still legal Indian Casinos of Alabama.

Quaker October 5, 2010 at 1:03 pm

Glenn was an active, albeit unregistered, lobbyist at the General Assembly last session. You can bet he’ll be back next year. Now I sound like the good folks on the other side of the political from me fifteen years ago, but as long as voters automatically hit the “R” button regardless of the candidate’s lack of ethics and qualifications, this stink will never get cleaned up.

Herb October 5, 2010 at 3:46 pm

Wouldn’t it have been funny if Jay Walker had been arrested for jaywalking?

Romegaguy October 8, 2010 at 4:33 pm

But Judge Camp was appointed by Reagan and Newt said we needed more judges with the family values of Judge Camp…
