Barnes Backed Obama Before He Was Famous.

An interesting tidbit from the AJC’s PolitiFact article giving the Barnes campaign a “pants of fire” rating re: Obama’s visit.

Barnes has been a loyal Democrat for years, giving generously to a long list of candidates and Democratic organizations. Federal Election Commission records show he gave the DNC $10,000 in 2009 and $15,000 in 2004. He initially backed former U.S. Sen. John Edwards for president in 2008 but threw his support and checkbook behind Obama when Edwards bailed out of the race. Federal election records show Barnes gave $2,300 to “Obama for America” on Aug. 30, 2008, and on Sept. 23, 2008, gave $2,500 to the “Obama Victory Fund.” The former governor even gave Obama money six years ago, before the former senator rocketed onto the nation stage — FEC records shows Barnes gave $1,000 to “Obama for Illinois Inc.” on June 2, 2004. Barnes is certainly the kind of guy the Democrats like to have at their fund-raisers.

Well, do we go with the “Barnes gave money to Obama!” ad?

Or, the “Barnes gave money to secret Muslim Terrorists without Birth Certificates!” ad?

    • Doug Grammer says:

I see an ad morphing Gov. Barnes and President Obama’s faces together back and forth saying he gave money to himself.

Buzz…you better be careful…if Barnes gets elected and you need something from the Governor’s Office, you might not get any attention.

here’s an imaginary scenario…”Hi! I’m freshman legislator Buzz Brockway, here to see Governor Barnes about some important business in Gwinnett County”….secretary googles “Buzz Brockway”, then says “I am sorry sir. Governor Barnes is busy right now.”….Buzz asks “Then when can I see him? It’s very important”…secretary responds “When hell freezes over”…

And this will be different when outspoken legislators like Dan Lakly or John Yates needed something from Governor Barnes how?

        • macho says:

Of course Roy Barnes with a GOP Legislature will be a far different Governor than he was with a Democrat Legislature.

Not really. He’ll still be a bully and a jerk, just not an all-powerful bully and jerk.

      • Lady Thinker says:

Or maybe he is afraid it will cost him his governership, which meeting with Obama won’t do. It will be Karen getting elected that will cost him the governor’s seat.
