US Attorneys in Georgia are bored

Because they’re subpoenaing officials for no good reason. Clearly there was no basis for the US Attorney to have a conversation with Bart Graham. No reason at all.

Via the AJC:

A federal investigation into a meeting at the Georgia Capitol last year involving Nathan Deal, then a member of Congress, has not targeted Deal, his chief of staff or his Gainesville business partner, Deal said Wednesday….
“Neither Nathan, nor anyone who worked for him, nor Ken Cronan, is under federal subpoena,” said spokesman Brian Robinson. “After we found out about this, we talked to the U.S. attorney’s office and they have assured us that Nathan nor anyone else is the target or the subject of a federal investigation. The timing of this is suspicious, but Nathan is not the subject or the target of a federal investigation.”

  1. CobbGOPer says:

Typical of the Deal campaign: “Nothing to see here, move along.”

Why is it then that the released subpoena records specifically say that they called Bart Graham in to discuss Nathan Deal and Deal’s business partner and their meetings to attempt to stop the state from opening up the contract for bidding?

      • I don’t think I’ve seen Doug obviously endorse anybody. He’s probably just as tired as about half the PP audience of having to wade through yet another pro-Handel / anti-Deal thread to find something better to talk about…

        • Doug Grammer says:

I am not endorsing anyone and am prepared to support either of these candidates on August 11.

My questions still stands. (Try to ) take the politics out of it, and tell me how many threads are needed on the same story?

      • Doug Grammer says:

I could endorse, and as long as I didn’t use my tile in doing so, I could get away with it. It’s not against our rules if it’s done without a title. However, I don’t think it’s the right thing to do.

  2. GOPwits says:

Agree Lady Thinker… The last time I checked, the US Attorney’s office is controlled by a Democrat Appointee and a Grand Jury is made up of citizens…

Having the FBI investigate your actions isn’t exactly the kind of stuff that earns votes…

    • Provocateur says:

Shows how little you know, GOPwits. Sally Yates was hired and worked under Bill Duffey (who was a W Bush appointee) until Duffey got appointed a federal judgeship. Then Yates took over duties while Bush was president. THEN when Obama came in, he decided to let Yates stay.

So, with regards to the last time you “checked” something out, check again.
