Two more sons of Georgia make the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom

It is with a heavy heart that we must again write about the passing of more sons of Georgia who have laid down their lives to preserve our freedom.

Army Spc. David A. Holmes, 34 of Tennille died June 26 at Sayed Abad, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 810th Eng Co., 648th Maneuver Enhancement Bde, Georgia National Guard.

Also on June 26, Marine Lance Cpl. William T. Richards, 20, of Trenton, died while supporting combat operations in the Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 1st Bn, 2nd Marines, 2nd Marine Div., II MEF, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
